Event Details
This year, Turn It Up SoCal is going to be bigger then ever with over 15 schools participating across southern California. Our goal is to bring over 2,000 students together to work with the internationally acclaimed The Young Americans and perform at the Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario, CA featuring a well known artist.
WHO : Your community’s 7-12 grade students. A minimum of 100 students is needed to participate in this program. Schools are welcome to invite surrounding communities to reach the minimum requirement.
WHAT : All students would learn a portion of the final show performed at the end of the project on December 1st, 2015 at Citizens Bank Arena.(subject to change)
WHERE : Rehearsal would be at each location’s school gym or theatre space. School’s can choose one or two Wednesdays/Saturdays, Sept-Nov, for the YAs to visit, teach, and cast solos for their portion of the final performance. In total, students will need at least 6 hours of rehearsal time. Rehearsal times/dates are on a first come, first serve basis. A confirmation email from one of our coordinators will be sent to you. Students will also have access to a rehearsal video to use as a reminder leading up to the show in December.
HOW : Students must register online. Schools that would like to participate need to submit a application. Each location is responsible for chaperones, food, and transportation for their group on the final performance day. We would suggest students to bring a water bottle and a packed lunch. We are hoping to provide free water in addition to food for purchase at the venue. Registration and applications open June 1st, 2015.
PERFORMANCE DAY : On Tuesday, December 1st, schools must arrive latest by 9:00 AM. We will begin with a introduction and warm-up. After that, we will begin rehearsing/learning the rest of the show until lunch. After lunch, we will conduct a final dress rehearsal. Students should wear comfortable shoes, blue jeans, and their YA Arena t-shirt. Your school’s shirts will be given to you upon arrival that morning. The final performance will be that evening. Families and friends can purchase tickets to final performance online.
